The seminar was arranged
jointly by Crop Science and Engineering sections of the NJF.
The support from the Lithuanian Ministry of Agriculture and
the Lithuanian University of Agriculture is kindly
acknowledged. 42 participants came from ten countries - all
NJF countries plus Germany and Belgium. The programme of 3
keynote presentations, 17 oral presentations and 11 posters
covered a large area of expertise. Keynote presentations
were given by Head of Bioenergy Department Jens Bo Holm
Nielsen from Denmark, professor Peter Weiland from Germany,
and Senior Adviser Birgitta Vainio-Mattila from Finland. A
lot of fruitful discussions took place at the seminar and
many new contacts were initiated. The theme was found out to
be necessary to be continued and the next seminar will take
place in Norway tentatively in 2009.

Vilnius provided an easy to
reach location for the seminar and the facilities at the
seminar venue “Hotel Conti” were very good and suitable for
